After several jaunts in different directions - study philosophy, travel, graphic design, Bernadette met a teacher who thought that her drawing style was very three-dimensional. This got her started in the art of sculpting. She has been developing herself in that direction as from 1992.

Already at a young age Bernadette was fascinated by nature, specificly the animal kingdom which is her source of inspiration. She uses her craftmanship to create still images. Her work is a testimony of her talent. Bernadette has chosen for the basic material; stone, chisel, and hammer which are both her ally as well as her adversary. The unpredictable structure of the material asks for both reticence and mastery.

Her work is sold in The Netherlands as well as abroad, mostly as commissions. The last years she combines these with exhibitions.
